Architectural Academy - Swedish Schools of Architecture

50 million Swedish kronor to two Strong Research Environments and 30 million Swedish kronor to a new Swedish Research School in Architecture

In order to establish a well-grounded and discipline-specific platform for research education, with the possibility to support Sweden’s aim to cope with current demands, the four Swedish Schools of Architecture (SSA) at Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm (KTH), Chalmers University of Technology Gothenburg (CTH), Faculty of Engineering at Lund University (LTH) and Umeå University (UMA), have collaborated since spring 2009 under the common heading Architectural Academy - Swedish Schools of Architecture to form a network for architectural research. A main objective in this collaboration is the establishment of a Swedish Research School in Architecture – a strong conjoining force for current and future research environments.

During spring 2011 the Swedish Research Council FORMAS decided to accord a total of 80 million Swedish kronor to architectural research in Sweden, to be distributed during the years 2011-2016. A total of 50 million Swedish kronor were granted to two strong research environments and 30 million Swedish kronor to a new Swedish Research School in Architecture.
